By early 2008, four countries and territory had registered to participate in an international firework display in central Danang City on March 27-28.
They are Malaysia, Canada, Hong Kong and the host country Vietnam.
The contest will be held on the Han River and 12, 000 fireworks will be used in the contest. There will also be a wide range of cultural activities during the event such as art performances along the coastal road bearing the name of the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong and Han River, cuisine and ceramic exhibitions.
Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee Tran Van Minh said that the event aims to attract more tourists to the city. It plans to hold the contest annually.
