The northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh marked its 125th founding anniversary and began its first gong culture festival on October 2.

The province was established on June 22, 1886, as Muong province. In 1976, it merged with Ha Tay province into Ha Son Binh province. In 1996, it split to become Hoa Binh province.

Over the past 20 years, the provincial party committee and people have overcome numerous difficulties to achieve an average annual economic growth rate of 12 percent and improve their rural infrastructure.

Addressing the ceremony, Le Hong Anh, Permanent member of the Party Secretariat, highlighted its economic achievements and cultural values.

He urged the local people to pay due attention to religious policies and cutting-edge industries.

On behalf of the Party and State, he presented the Ho Chi Minh Order to Hoa Binh province. (Source: VOV)
