Geography

Vietnam is an S-shaped strip of land, located in the center of Southeast Asia and the east of the Indochinese peninsula. This country is bounded by China to the north, Laos, Cambodia to the west. The east and southeast of Vietnam are bordered by the sea with a total length of 3,260 kilometers.
 
Vietnam has three main regions: the North, Central and the South with different climate and culture. The number of cities is 63 with more than 90 million people divided into 54 ethnic groups. This creates a rich culture, expressed through each person, each region, each locality. Vietnam is proud to have so many intangible cultural heritages about the specific arts of each region and period in history.

Climate

Vietnam has a tropical monsoon climate which is hot and humid, rainy and changes complicatedly. Every year, the territory of Vietnam, on both land and sea, receives a huge amount of solar radiation, a lot of sunshine hours (1400-3000 hours per year), high temperature (average temperature is more than 210C), high rainfall and relative humidity of the air (rainfall is higher than 1500mm and humidity is higher than 80%).
 
Viet Nam's climate changes seasonally and regionally (from low to high, from North to South and from East to West) very clearly. The North of Vietnam is characterised by 4 distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter, while the Central and the South only have 2 main seasons that are dry season and rainy season without cold winter.

Tourism

In 2018, Vietnam tourism has received many prestigious awards, contributing to affirming the position of Vietnam tourism on the world tourism map. World Travel Awards voted Vietnam as the top travel destination in Asia. Golf World Travel Awards also voted Vietnam as Asia's premier Golf Destination. Besides, Vietnam tourism is also ranked in the top 10 countries with the highest growth rate of tourism in the world by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
 
In 2018, Vietnam welcomed 15.5 million international visitors, which increases by 20% compared to the same period of 2017. Among them, the highest increase in visitors came from North Asia countries with specific figures of nearly 5 million visitors from China (increase by 23.9%); 3.5 million visitors from South Korea (increase by 30.4%); 827 thousand visitors from Japan (increase by 3.6%). In addition, the number of visitors from ASEAN and Europe is also increasing.
